The company incorporated as a Private Limited Company on 22 November 2006 having its registered office at 36-F, Block-6 PECHS Karachi-75400, Pakistan and business office at 7th Floor, Al-Tijarah Centre,32-1-A, Block-6, P.E.C.H.S., Main Shara-e-Faisal,Karachi-75400, Pakistan.
Objective of this company is exclusively established to undertake operations to generation power and meet the power shortage in the country. In this regard, the company has so far acquired 1553 acres of land at Jhampir, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan authorized by Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) to set up a 50 MW Wind Power Project.
The company is committed to enhance power generation using wind energy and to carry on the business of generating and supply of electric power and to carry on all or any of the business of generating, transforming, converting, supplying and dealing in electricity and all other forms of energy and products or services associated therewith and of promoting the conservation and efficient use of electricity and to perform all other acts which are necessary or incidental to the business of electricity generation.
Mr. Iqbal Alimohamed Chairman and the founders of Metro Power Company Limited is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England and Wales) and is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Pakistan. He is not only one of the leading Industrialist/Banker of the country but also one of the pioneers of modern day management in Pakistan. The organizations that he has set up and managed have become "Centers of Excellence" in their respective categories. His individual caliber can easily be ascertained from his remarkable past and present experiences.
Besides being Chief Executive of Gul Ahmed Energy Ltd. since 1994 he further has eagerness to realize his dream that may contribute and answer the national challenges in power and energy sector, which could bring Metro Power Company Limited as the Energy Movers for the country that established in 22 November 2006. In September 2012 Mr. Iqbal Alimohamed elected as Director of HUBCO (The Hub Power Company) that is the largest power producing company in private sector in Pakistan.
InfraCo Asia is a part of the InfraCo Group, which is a donor funded infrastructure development company, funded by the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), members of which include the development agencies of Austria, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, KfW and the World Bank Group including International Finance Corporation. InfraCo Asia was established in 2010.
