The Energy Division

Metro Power Group is harnessing the potential of clean energy. We started with the power generation sector and developed a 50 Megawatt (MW) Wind Power project in Jhimpir, Sindh, which was successfully launched in September 2016. Following this success, we successfully launched a second wind power project, Metro Wind Power Limited (MWPL) of 60 MW in April 2022. Through our Joint Venture with British International Investment (BII) we aim to increase our total capacity to 500 MW in the coming years, with different projects currently under development.

About Metro group

Metro Power Company Limited

Metro Power Company Limited was incorporated on November 22, 2006, Metro Power Company Limited is a licensed Power Generation Company operating under the Companies Ordinance of 1984. With the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the company is engaged in power generation and supply of electricity to the National Grid with electricity generated via wind power. As part of its operations, the company currently supplies 50 MW of electricity to CPPA in compliance with the 2006 Renewable Policy.

Metro Wind Power Limited

Metro Wind Power Limited is in August 2015, Metro Wind Power Limited was established under the Companies Ordinance of 1984. Commercial Operations were achieved in April 2022 and the company was set up under the 2006 Renewable Policy. The wind power plant produces 60 MW of electricity which is supplied to the National Grid via energy purchase agreements with the CPPA. Metro Wind Power Limited is the first plant to be part of the 500 MW joint venture agreement between Metro Power Group and British International Investment (BII).

Metro Solar Power Limited

Metro Solar Power Limited on June 8th, 2015, Metro Solar Power Limited was established in accordance with the Companies Ordinance 1984. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan granted the company a license to operate as a Power Generation Company. The project is currently under development.

Gul Ahmed Energy Limited

Gul Ahmed Energy Ltd. Was established in 1994 under the companies ordinance 1984 in a Power Generation Sector to set up and carry on the business of generating and supply of power transforming, converting, distributing, exporting, and dealing in electricity and all other forms of energy and products or services associated therewith and promoting the conservation and efficient use of electricity in the country. GAEL together with its subsidiaries has a 236 MW capacity in generating electricity from Furnace oil and wind. It supplies to both KE and National Grid.

Metro Capital (Private) Limited

Metro Capital (Private) Limited was incorporated on October 23, 2000, as a Private Limited Company under the Companies Ordinance, 1984. The principal activity of the company is commissions and fund placements.  MCPL is a capital holding company that can underwrite, acquire, invest in securities or enter into any partnership, joint venture agreement, and involved in the distribution of mutual funds units based in Karachi, Pakistan and now our focus on power generation is to meet the power short need.

Metro Storage & Services (Pvt) Ltd

Metro Storage & Services (Pvt.) Ltd. was incorporated on 3rd February 2005 as a Private Limited Company under the Companies Ordinance, 1984. The principal activity of the company is to place its Storage/Godowns on rent, The company is also ready to further acquire land and Real Estates to enhance its investments to execute, and conduct a general contracting business and submit tenders to private organizations, government, and semi-government departments

Gul Ahmed Bio Films Ltd.

Gul Ahmed Bio Films Ltd. establish in 2003 licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan to carry on business as manufacturers, converters, and printers of all types of packaging films and all other plastic films.

Swift Storage & Services (Pvt) Ltd

Swift Storage & Services (Pvt.) Ltd. was incorporated on 23rd October 2002 as a Private Limited Company under the Companies Ordinance, 1984. The principal activity of SS&SPL is to place its Storage/Godowns on rent, SS&SPL is ready to further acquire land, and Real Estates to expand its business activities.

Metro Property Network (Pvt) Ltd

Metro Property Network (Pvt.) Ltd. Was incorporated in Karachi on 3rd February 2005 under the company’s ordinance 1984 to carry on the business of shopping malls, hotels, land development and construction town planners, surveyors, valuers, appraisers, and dispose of or maintain the same to build townships, etc.

JDSN Electric Ltd.

JDSN Electric Ltd. Was incorporated in Karachi on 31st May 2016 under the company’s ordinance 1984 to set up and operate Electric Power Generation Projects, plants, etc. by using wind, solar and other available energy sources of power generating system and generate accumulate, supply, transmit and distribute electric power to companies/authorities both in the public and private sector and any Government Department to meet the Electricity shortage in the country.

Gul Ahmed CBMC Glass Company Ltd.

Gul Ahmed CBMC Glass Company Ltd. Was incorporated in Karachi on 3rd November 2003 under the company’s ordinance 1984 to carry on its business anywhere in Pakistan to manufacture, produce prepare all types of glass & glassware, porcelain and porcelainware, crockery, pottery, ceramics cutlets, bulbs and tube lights, plastic and plasticware, and all products or by-products, etc.

GAE Power Solutions Ltd.

GAE Power Solutions Ltd. was incorporated in Karachi on 15th December 2021 under the companies ordinance 1984 to carry on Electrical Power Generating business and services associated with all types of power generating plants including all renewable energy power plants, thermal power plants, hydropower plants, to perform all other acts which are necessary or incidental to the business of electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply.

Chairman and the Founder of Metro Power Company Limited, Mr. Iqbal Ali Mohamed, a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England and Wales) also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Pakistan. Not only he is one of the leading Industrialist/Banker of the country but also one of the pioneers of modern-day management in Pakistan. The foundations he has set up for organizations and managed have become “Centers of Excellence” in their respective categories. His caliber can easily be ascertained from his remarkable past and present experiences.

Besides being Chief Executive of Gul Ahmed Energy Ltd. since 1994 he is enthusiastic to contribute and answer the national challenges in power and energy sector, which could bring Metro Power Company Limited as the Energy Movers for the country that established in 22 November 2006. In September 2012 Mr. Iqbal Ali Mohamed was elected as Director of HUBCO (The Hub Power Company) which is the largest power producing company in private sector of Pakistan.

InfraCo Asia is a part of the InfraCo Group, which is a donor funded infrastructure development company, funded by the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), members of which include the development agencies of Austria, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, KfW and the World Bank Group including International Finance Corporation. Wind turbines let us harness the power of the wind and turn it into energy. When the wind blows, the wind turbine’s blades spin clockwise, capturing the energy of the wind. This triggers the main shaft of the wind turbine, connected to a gearbox within the nacelle, to spin. The gearbox sends that energy to the generator, converting it to electricity. Wind electricity then travels to a transformer, where voltage levels are adjusted to match with the grid.
